University Preparation

We are a stepping stone to the world’s leading universities

Education at Charterhouse College also acts as a stepping stone to the world’s leading universities.  We have staff with more than twenty years’ experience of successfully preparing students every year to go to Oxford or Cambridge.

Our education is designed to ensure students not only achieve the best IGCSE and A level results, but also become intellectually curious young men and women with a depth of understanding in their chosen subjects of study that will convince at interview for the most demanding undergraduate courses in the world.

That level of understanding comes not only from our progressive teaching methodology in the classroom, but also from our individual and small group work with students at lunchtimes, after school and in the evenings. Clinics, academic societies, visiting lecturers, trips, extended projects, wider reading guidance and extensive physical and online resources are all part of our comprehensive enrichment programme.

Led by our highly experienced Head of University Counselling, our team of Higher Education advisers are committed to ensuring that all our students are fully supported throughout the process of applying and preparing for university study.  Students are given full guidance in talks and seminars from our experienced team, and are able to schedule one-to-one appointments at any point in the academic year, in order to develop their thoughts and plans, and ensure their applications are of the highest quality.

Our support programmes prepare students for life beyond Charterhouse, both for Higher Education and for their future careers. These programmes start in the first year and continue throughout the student’s time at the College.  Our aim is always to ensure that all students have the information and advice they need to make the best choices, taking into consideration their academic and personal profiles.

We also appreciate the role that parents have to play in supporting their children through this process, and so we give regular presentations and seminars for parents so that they understand the options, requirements and stages involved in the university application process.
